	The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music was created by the estate of the late American pianist Yvar Mikhashoff to support composers and performers of new music.

The goal of the competition is to encourage the composition and performance of new works for solo piano reflecting and continuing the legacy of the distinguished American pianist, Yvar Mikhashoff (1941-1993). See "Application Guidelines" link above. Please note: The competition for pianist/composer collaborations is the Trust's only funding program at the present time. The winners of the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music's third (2010) annual Pianist/Composer Commissioning Project are: Malgorzata Walentynowicz, pianist (Gdansk, Poland) - Birke Bertelsmeier, composer (Karlsruhe, Germany). A Special Award was given to David Broome, pianist (Bronx, NY) - Scott Wollschleger, composer (New York, NY).
