	The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music was created by the estate of the late American pianist Yvar Mikhashoff to support composers and performers of new music.

The goal of the competition is to encourage the composition and performance of new works for solo piano reflecting and continuing the legacy of the distinguished American pianist, Yvar Mikhashoff (1941-1993). The winners of the Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music's fifth (2012) annual Pianist/Composer Commissioning Project are: Eric Huebner, pianist (Buffalo, NY USA) - Eric Wubbels, composer (New York, NY USA). Special Awards were given to Hayk Melikyan, pianist (Yerevan, Republic of Armenia) - Evis Sammoutis, composer (Nicosia, Cyprus).
