The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music was created in 1996 by the estate of the late American pianist Yvar Mikhashoff to support composers and performers of new music.

The Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music is pleased to announce its ninth annual international competition for pianist/composer collaborations. The goal of the competition is to encourage the composition and performance of new works for solo piano reflecting and continuing the legacy of the distinguished American pianist, Yvar Mikhashoff (1941-1993). Congratulations to the winners of the eighth annual Pianist/Composer Commissioning Project, pianist Anna d'Errico and composer Maurizio Azzan (Italy). A special award was given to pianist Daniel Walden (Boston) and composer Nathan Heidelberger (Buffalo).
Yvar Mikhashoff's Panorama of American Piano Music: From Antheil to Zappa is now available on Mode Records (mode 262/265) - www.moderecords.com). The four CD set includes 62 works by 48 composers and totals 4 hours and 34 minutes of music.
